"BARBIE" this plastic doll has been an everlasting fascination of a girl. I'm pretty sure Barbie have always been a part of today's-women childhood. In this modern generation there is a barbie doll for every little girl by their side. That's how Barbie made it's way into the life's of million's of little heart's.
Barbie also made its way into the virtual media with its online games, applications, and fun activities. Barbie has an official online website where latest info about the doll, movies, and games are updated.
Barbie is not just a plastic doll it has become a brand these days. Barbie books, bags, accessories, cakes, gadgets, interiors and also events like birthday parties for the little ones are Barbie themed. Well I could probably say it’s not just a doll it’s Barbie the “WONDER DOLL”.

Barbie made its first television appearance on a show namely the Mickey Mouse Club which was quiet a popular show back then. Since then Barbie has been playing its part as an actress in several princess and fairy themed films. Barbie movies one of my personal favorite’s are widely watched worldwide. Barbie debuted in 1987 and after fourteen years she had a comeback in 2001.

As they say popularity is always accompanied with the so called controversy and that’s how our popular “Barbie” does have some controversies. Some popular controversies can be listed as follows:
> Barbie was banned in Saudi Arabia as the doll's clothing was not in accordance with the ideology of Islam, and that was because of the doll's revealing clothes, its on and off relationship with boyfriend ken gave a negative cultural message to the young girls.
> Barbie's another yet popular controversy is that it promotes a body image which is impossible and unrealistic. It is 11.5 inches tall which on a scale of 1/6 would be 5 feet 9 inches tall and its body measurements are 36 inches chest, 18 inches waist and 33 inches hips. It is believed that a women with these measurements would lack 17 to 22 % of body fat required for a her to menstruate.
