“Smoking” or “Social Networking”… what’s more ADDICTIVE…??

Smoking as we all know is one among the most popular yet dangerous addictions apart from alcohol, drugs etc. But hey did you know social networking is an addiction too..??

According to a new research study conducted by the researchers of University of Chicago, US it is been found out that people are more addictive to Social media than smoking. They carried out an experiment to test an individual’s urge to tweet or check mails and see how long they can resist their desires. The study was conducted in the German city of Wurtzburg.

The study included 205 people aged 18 to 85. Each of the participants was given a Blackberry device and was asked to observe their desire to go online, tweet or check their mails over a course of one week. And the study found out that most of them couldn’t resist their urge to use the social media.

Wilhelm Hofmann a lead researcher of the study said “Desires for media may be comparatively harder to resist because of their high availability and also because it feels like it does not cost much to engage in these activities even though when one wants to resist”.
